Shah Gilani's Archive
Shah Gilani
Wall Street superstar and former hedge fund manager Shah Gilani is the Chief Investment Strategist of Manward Press and at the helm of the Manward Money Report newsletter and the Launch Investor and Alpha Money Flow trading services. He’s a sought-after market commentator and has appeared on CNBC, Fox Business and Bloomberg TV. He’s also been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Washington Post, and he’s had columns published in Forbes.
In 1982, he launched his first hedge fund from his seat on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He worked in the pit as a market maker when options on the S&P 100 Index first began trading… and was part of a handful of traders who laid the technical groundwork for what would eventually become the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX). He also ran the futures and options division at the largest retail bank in Britain. Shah gained notoriety for calling the implosion of U.S. financial markets (all the way back in February 2008) AND the mega bull run that followed.
Now at the helm of Manward, Shah is focused tightly on one goal: To do his part to make subscribers wealthier, happier and more free.
What Really Happened to Silicon Valley Bank – and What It Means for You
Newsflash: Even if Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) was stress-tested by the Fed, their problems would not have been unearthed, though they were more than understood by Goldman Sachs. SVB’s problems were, in fact, used by Goldman to “help” SVB, which immediately buried the bank and grossly enriched the great vampire squid. (It’s my analogy for […]
SVB’s Collapse Can Be Your Triple-Digit Gain – Here’s How to Play It
Of course, by now you’ve probably read a dozen stories about the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, or SVB for short. This is what you need to keep in mind: the financial sector is not out of the woods yet. Yes, even though the U.S. Government (Treasury Department, Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance […]
Look for These Three Things When Picking Dividend Stocks
We’re seeing a lot of the same action that we saw in 2022 this week, with markets seesawing back and forth in response to battling narratives and big headline news. A triple-whammy of strong jobs reports, crises in the crypto world, and a massive bank stock selloff are taking markets lower, even as market-makers try […]
Here’s the Best Bet on the Future of Crypto and the Blockchain
Anyone who is a crypto enthusiast – any winning investor in the space (and there are fewer of them every day), all the losers in the crypto game, and anybody who knows anything about cryptocurrencies – knows the come-on under the hype is that blockchain, the heart of all cryptos, is the real deal and […]
Collect Inflation-Crushing 10%+ Yields While This Stock Appreciates
Inflation just won’t come down, at least nowhere near the Federal Reserve’s 2% target rate – even after the Fed Funds Effective Rate has jumped from 0.08% in February 2022 to 4.57% in February 2023. That means a lot of investors are turning their attention back toward income investing as a way of making sure […]
Five Stocks You Need to Dump Right Now
Markets have been a mixed bag this week, in the usual “push me, pull you” action we’re familiar with by now. It’s a battle of the same warring narratives – how high will the Fed push rates, how long will they keep them there, will they overdo it and push us into a recession, ad […]
Here’s the Big Problem with This “Trillion-Dollar” Buyback Binge
According to the American Prospect, a progressive policy journal, U.S. companies in the S&P 500 spent $5.3 trillion on buybacks between 2010 and 2020. Some analysts believe corporate buying power was responsible for 40% of the rise in stocks over that period, a huge contributing factor to the Great Bull Market of 2010 – 2020. […]
Make This Play on the S&P 500 for a Quick Profit Pop
It’s the start of a new trading week, and that means it’s time to look for a new opportunity to Flip the Chart. Instead of targeting an individual stock, we’re going to target the entire stock market, in response to some trends I see developing. When I look at the S&P 500 based on last […]
The Best Long-Term Plays to Weather Market Headwinds
The wind in the sails of the “everything rally” is starting to die down as the reality of the Federal Reserve’s “higher interest rates for longer” stance continues to settle in. We could be looking at a fairly significant downturn here, and that means it’s time to rethink what we’re doing with our capital right […]
Cash Is King Again – Here’s Where to Park It for Steady Gains
Some of you old Steve Miller fans may remember his seminal 1973 album The Joker and one of its brilliant tracks, “Your Cash Ain’t Nothin’ But Trash.” (For the rest of you who don’t know the song, check it out; you’re going to love it.) Like, I love cash now. Because now your cash is […]
