Tuesday’s Dip Was a Sign of What’s to Come

The stock market love continues…
And Big Tech is (still) leading the way.
So far this year, the tech-heavy Nasdaq has risen 8% compared to a 6% gain for the S&P 500. It’s more than doubled the Dow’s performance.
And that’s after Tuesday’s pullback that came courtesy of hotter-than-expected CPI numbers.
But that brief dip could be a sign of what’s to come, as Shah told Stewart Varney on Wednesday.
Manward’s intrepid Chief Investment Strategist explained that the markets – especially tech – are looking quite frothy right now.
In Shah’s own words:
Some of these stocks that have gone parabolic don’t deserve these kinds of moves – 20, 30, 40, 60 percent. These are meme stock moves in real, serious companies. I don’t think those are justified.
So, investors are getting a little bit anxious that “If we miss this ride, the market is going to go up like in 2023 and we’re going to miss it.” They’re chasing stocks. To me, it’s not the way the market should operate.
So, what to do?
With tech looking “bubblicious,” Shah took some protective stops in our VIP portfolios this week. Most notably, in Launch Investor, we rang the register on ARM Holdings (ARM), a semiconductor stock he recommended back in October.
Rather than wait for shares to fall, Shah locked in a 137% gain.
That sure beats trying to catch a falling knife, no?
Of course, there’s more than one way to play this situation – which is, at least in part, the result of elevated interest rates…
And that’s to focus on solid companies with strong dividends.
That’s a topic that’s clearly of interest to Manward subscribers…
Readers have submitted dozens of stocks for Shah to analyze in our popular Buy This, Not That series. This week, he looked at five reader-requested companies, all with one thing in common…
They all pay dividends.
But the real question is… are they worth buying? To find out, watch the episode (or read the transcript) here.
And don’t forget, you can always submit your requests for a future Buy This, Not That by emailing us at mailbag@manwardpress.com.
Note: If you want a sneak peek into where Shah’s L.A.U.N.C.H. system is pointing him now, check out the presentation here. We’ll give you a hint… it involves a red-hot corner of the market with 2,100% in upside targeted in the next three years.
