246 Years Old and Still the Greatest
Andy Snyder|July 4, 2022
It’s 246 years old and still the greatest.
There was a bogus article published last week that needs our attention today… on this very special day for our nation.
The article – published, ironically, by a British newspaper – came with a dire headline.
That’s dire, right?
Well, maybe not.
It turns out the pollsters from the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics (that should tell you all you need to know about the survey) talked with just 1,000 folks.
Some 280 of them said it may soon be time to “take up arms against the government.”
No matter your political beliefs, there’s value in the idea. After all, such a mindset is what created the freedom we’ll celebrate today.
But, doing what we do, let’s put a bit of a different spin on things.
Never mind the fact the sample size was tiny and almost certainly skewed. Let’s talk about the 75% of Americans who aren’t looking for a fight. And, more importantly, the 2.4 million Americans who volunteered and are in uniform right now, willing to pick up a gun and fight for their nation.
Freedom comes in many forms.
It’s the right to say what we want. It’s the right to do with our money what we desire. And it’s the right to choose who makes the laws our society needs to maintain safety and freedom.
The enemies don’t always come from within.
Our great nation has endured many monstrous threats from outside our borders. Through them all, an army of devoted freedom fighters have shoved back our enemies.
Ultimately, those enemies remain the biggest threats to America.
But as we celebrate our nation today, we’re afraid too many folks will miss that message. They’ll focus on the problems from within… the mighty fighting between two sides.
If we do it enough, we’ll turn a difference of thought (one of the greatest gifts a nation can have) into a difference of state.
Watch the enemies pour in once that happens.
Freedom is the ability to think differently, to speak differently and to do different things.
That’s what makes us so great… so much better than our enemies.
Don’t hate it.
Protect it.
Happy birthday, America.
